Dr. Ronald Tietjen, M.D. Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Ronald Tietjen attended Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch, New Jersey where he was active in sports and academics. Scouting was an influential role during this time of his life, and he achieved the Eagle Scout award.
Dr. Tietjen received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ursinus College in 1968. He graduated with honors in biology.
From 1968 to 1972, Dr. Tietjen attended medical school at New York University where he graduated with honors. His research included an Honors Program in Biomechanics.
From 1972 to 1974, Dr Tietjen completed his Internship and Residency in Surgery at NYU/Bellevue Medical Center. Following that, he completed training programs at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manhattan, NY, and at the Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, NY.
Dr. Tietjen’s orthopedic training was at the New York Orthopedic Hospital at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York. At the New York Orthopedic Hospital, he became an Anne C. Kane Fellow in Orthopedics. He completed his orthopedic surgery training from 1974 to 1977. During that time, he participated in numerous clinical and scientific programs and published numerous papers.
Dr. Tietjen joined Danbury Orthopedic Associates, PC in Danbury, CT in July 1977. He joined the attending staff at Danbury Hospital, and for several years he continued to teach at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital as a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Tietjen became certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 1978. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Connecticut State Medical Society and the Fairfield County Medical Society.
Dr. Tietjen is currently the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Danbury Hospital; a role which he has held since 1997. He is also Medical Director for Orthopedic Surgery at Danbury Hospital. His clinical practice is limited to disorders of the knee with emphasis on knee replacement surgery.
